Black Orchid Parfum
Black Orchid Parfum is an Amber Floral perfume launched in 2020. It is an intensified version of Tom Ford’s original fragrance, Black Orchid Eau de Parfum. This perfume has top notes of truffle and plum. The mid notes are rum, ylang-ylang and black orchid and the base note is patchouli. The projection is strong and the longevity is strong.
On the opening Beve found Black Orchid Parfum to have a unisex profile that’s deep, rich, smooth and boozy. She didn’t get sweetness right away but found it to be really warm. After about half an hour, that reserved edge and earthiness that made it seem unisex died down. At this point the Black Orchid DNA rose to the forefront, and it was a little sweeter and more floral. Beve found it to be very enjoyable.
After spending the whole day with the parfum, she found that she liked the fragrance more and more as it evolved on her. She described the fragrance as a smouldering sensuality, rather than sexy, and imagines it being worn by a fireplace in some swanky hotel lobby or bar.
Velvet Orchid
Velvet Orchid is an Amber Floral fragrance that was released in 2014. This perfume has top notes of rum, honey, mandarin orange and bergamot. The mid notes include orchid, jasmine, heliotrope and rose oil. The base notes include vanilla, myrrh, sandalwood, labdanum and balsam. The projection is moderate and the longevity is strong.
Beve describes Velvet Orchid as more vanillic and boozy, with a mood or personality that is more flirty, outgoing, fun and vivacious. By comparison she found Black Orchid Parfum to be more reserved and giving a feeling of sensual confidence.
